Frequently Asked Questions

Who is Marissa Lawton?

I’m a mentor and guide for experienced entrepreneurs — the ones who’ve been in business for 5+ years and are ready to stop guessing, stop doubting themselves, and finally feel steady in the businesses they’ve built. My work combines metrics + mentorship so you can make confident, informed decisions without burning out.

Who do you work with?

I work with seasoned business owners — coaches, therapists, creatives, service providers, and entrepreneurs who are well past the startup stage. Most of my clients have been running their businesses for at least 5 years. They’re successful by many measures, but behind the scenes they’re often dealing with imposter syndrome, inconsistency, and constant second-guessing.

Why focus on entrepreneurs who’ve been in business 5+ years?

Because after the honeymoon phase of entrepreneurship, a new challenge shows up: you’ve proven your business can work, but you want it to feel good, too. This is when doubt creeps in, the market shifts, and strategies that worked before stop working. That’s where metrics and mentorship come in — helping you get clarity, direction, and the confidence that you truly belong in business.

What does “taking the guesswork out of business” mean?

It means no more crossing your fingers and hoping. Instead, I help you track the right business metrics — the numbers that actually tell you what’s working, what’s wobbling, and what needs your attention. When you combine that with mentorship and support, you stop running your business on vibes and start running it with intention.

How does mentorship help seasoned entrepreneurs?

Even the most experienced business owners hit seasons of doubt or feel stuck in isolation. Mentorship gives you perspective — someone who can help you see blind spots, interpret your numbers, and remind you that you’re not doing this alone. It’s the support system you didn’t know you needed but won’t want to run your business without.

Do I need this if my business is already “successful”?

Yes. Many of my clients are outwardly successful — hitting revenue goals, booking clients, maintaining visibility. But success doesn’t always feel like security. If you’re lying awake at night wondering if it’s all going to crumble, or if you still feel like you “should know what you’re doing by now,” then this work is for you. It helps you move from rollercoaster results to steady confidence.

How is your approach different from other business coaches?

I don’t teach hustle. I don’t push cookie-cutter strategies. My approach is rooted in clarity, sustainability, and support. Instead of chasing the next shiny tactic, I help you create a system for checking in on your business — using both numbers and intuition — so you can make decisions that keep you steady for the long run.

What’s the first step to working with you?

Start by exploring The Experienced Entrepreneur podcast or my membership program, The Monday Meeting. Both are designed to give you a mix of practical strategy, grounded mentorship, and community support. From there, you’ll find the right level of support to fit your season of business.

Will this help me overcome imposter syndrome?

Absolutely. One of the biggest pain points I see in entrepreneurs who’ve been in business for years is the quiet fear that they’re still “faking it.” By combining metrics that prove your success with the mentorship to reinforce your perspective, you’ll start to trust yourself — and your business — in a deeper way.

Is this only for women?

While much of my language is directed toward women entrepreneurs, the principles I teach — clarity, confidence, sustainability, and support — apply to any business owner who has been operating for 5+ years and wants to feel solid in their business.
